Lego's Life-Size F1 Cars for Miami GP
The Danish company Lego took on an ambitious project to create life-size F1 cars for the Miami Grand Prix driver parade. Using nearly 400,000 Lego bricks, the task was no small feat. Senior designer Jonathan Jurion and engineering manager specialist Martin Šmida were entrusted with making this vision a reality.
The cars had to accurately reproduce the latest Speed Champions Lego F1 models, be capable of a full lap, and accommodate two drivers. The cockpit was elongated for space, and special features like movable pedals were added for comfort.
With no instruction manual initially, the team used special software to map out the brick assembly. The wheels and tires were borrowed, and the non-Lego parts added significant weight.
After the parade, the models will go on a world tour.
