Key Insights from Saints' OTAs and Minicamp: Health, QB Battle, and Offensive Line Focus
Discover the latest updates from the New Orleans Saints' OTAs and minicamp, focusing on health, quarterback competition, and offensive line strategies.

The New Orleans Saints have wrapped up their organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp, setting the stage for the upcoming NFL season. Here are the key takeaways from their offseason preparations:
Health as the Top Priority
Coach Kellen Moore has emphasized health and safety during the offseason. The Saints have focused on 7-on-7 drills to minimize physical strain while ensuring players are mentally prepared for training camp. "We're trying to limit the physicality and put these guys in a really great position to be ready to rock and roll for training camp," Moore said.
Quarterback Competition
With Jake Haener recovering from an injury, Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler have taken most of the reps. The competition remains open, with Moore focusing on their command of the offense and play-calling abilities. "Just keep implementing our system. Keep trying to perfect that," Rattler mentioned.
Offensive Line Strategy
The Saints have made significant investments in their offensive line, with recent first-round picks Trevor Penning, Taliese Fuaga, and Kelvin Banks Jr. Penning’s move to guard has allowed Fuaga to shift to right tackle, his college position. "I think he's going to hold down that left side for a long, long time," said veteran center Erik McCoy about Banks.
Looking Ahead
The Saints will begin training camp in Metairie, La., before heading to California for nine days of practice in August. The focus will be on building team chemistry and preparing for the physical demands of the season.
