Max Verstappen Silences Rumors: Commits to Red Bull for 2026 Season
Max Verstappen confirms his commitment to Red Bull for the 2026 season, putting an end to widespread speculation about his future in Formula 1.

Max Verstappen has officially confirmed his continued partnership with Red Bull for the 2026 Formula 1 season, effectively silencing the swirling rumors about his potential departure. The reigning champion made this announcement during a press conference in Budapest, Hungary, stating, "It's time to stop all the rumors."
The Rumors and Speculations
In recent weeks, speculation about Verstappen's future intensified after Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff expressed interest in acquiring the Dutch driver. This speculation was fueled further by reports of an exit clause in Verstappen's contract with Red Bull, which could have allowed him to leave if he finished fourth or lower in the championship standings after the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Verstappen's Commitment
Despite finishing fourth in the Belgian Grand Prix, Verstappen remains in third place in the F1 standings, comfortably ahead of George Russell. This positioning ensures his stay with Red Bull for the upcoming season. Verstappen emphasized his focus on improving team performance and future strategies, stating, "I was just focused on talking to the team about how we can improve our performance, future ideas for next year as well."
Contract and Future Plans
Verstappen signed his current contract with Red Bull in 2022, which extends until the end of the 2028 season. When asked about the possibility of similar speculation next year, Verstappen humorously responded, "If you ask me that question next year, then yes, we will have that speculation!"
Leadership Changes at Red Bull
The confirmation of Verstappen's stay follows the departure of Red Bull's team principal, Christian Horner, who was replaced by Laurent Mekies. Verstappen expressed optimism about Mekies' leadership, stating, "I do like how Laurent is working. Very motivated, constantly asking the right questions to me, but also to the team."
Looking Ahead
Verstappen is hopeful that Mekies' influence will bring positive changes to the team in the coming years. "This year it's very difficult to see any kind of benefit from that, but I hope in the coming year, two years, that we can really see his touch to the team," he said.
With Verstappen's commitment secured, Red Bull can now focus on enhancing their performance and strategies for the 2026 season, aiming to reclaim their dominant position in Formula 1.
