Moses Itauma: The Heavyweight Prodigy Who Almost Quit Boxing

Discover how Moses Itauma, a rising star in heavyweight boxing, almost quit the sport before finding his passion again with trainer Ben Davison.

Moses Itauma is widely regarded as the next big thing in British heavyweight boxing. At just 20 years old, he has already made a significant impact in the sport, boasting an impressive record of 12 wins, with 10 of those victories coming by way of knockout. However, his journey to the top was far from straightforward.

A Rocky Start

Itauma's career almost took a different turn when he hit a mental barrier. "I just felt like I reached a barrier, and I was just unable to surpass that barrier," Itauma revealed. This period of self-doubt led him to question his future in boxing, despite his early successes.

The Turning Point

Everything changed when Itauma began working with Ben Davison, one of the most respected trainers in British boxing. Davison, who has coached stars like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, provided Itauma with the guidance and support he needed to reignite his passion for the sport.

"With Ben, he taught me a different side to boxing. He taught me there's more to boxing than just punch, punch, get punched, punch back," Itauma explained. "There's a whole chess game to this."

Rising Through the Ranks

Since teaming up with Davison, Itauma has continued to dominate in the ring. His upcoming bout against Dillian Whyte is set to be his toughest challenge yet, but Itauma is confident in his abilities. "I know that there's levels to boxing, and I just felt like I was unable to learn anymore," he said. "But now, I feel like I'm constantly improving."

The Future Looks Bright

With his career back on track, Itauma is focused on achieving greatness in the heavyweight division. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of perseverance and the right mentorship in overcoming challenges.

As Itauma continues to rise through the ranks, fans and analysts alike are eager to see just how far this young prodigy can go. His journey is a testament to the power of resilience and the impact of a great coach in shaping a boxer's career.
