Chloe Kelly has been called into the England squad to replace the injured Beth Mead for their upcoming Women's Nations League matches. The 27-year-old forward, who joined Arsenal on loan from Manchester City in January, recently made a notable return to action in Arsenal's 5-0 victory over Tottenham.

Kelly, who expressed her desire to 'be happy again' in a social media post, has had a limited start this season with only one Women's Super League appearance before her recent comeback. Her performance as a substitute was impressive, hitting the crossbar in a vibrant display at Emirates Stadium.

The injury to Mead, who was benched during the Tottenham game, has opened up a spot for Kelly in the 24-player squad. Additionally, defender Lotte Wubben-Moy has also withdrawn due to a minor muscle injury. Replacing Wubben-Moy is Aston Villa's Lucy Parker, who has been included in Sarina Wiegman's revised squad.

The Lionesses are set to face Portugal on Friday and will then take on world champions Spain at Wembley Stadium. This series of matches is crucial as the team prepares for international competition.
