Historic Rugby Showdown: Ireland vs. All Blacks Returns to Soldier Field

Ireland and New Zealand set to reignite their rivalry at Soldier Field in a historic rugby rematch this November.

Ireland and New Zealand are set to face off once again at Soldier Field in Chicago on November 1st, echoing their iconic 2016 clash. This upcoming match promises to be a thrilling encounter, as Ireland looks to uphold their legacy after their monumental first win over the All Blacks at the same venue, which ended a 111-year wait. Kevin Potts, CEO of the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), expressed enthusiasm about the event, highlighting the deep-seated rivalry and mutual respect between the two esteemed rugby nations.

"The 2016 encounter at Soldier Field is one of the greatest moments in Irish rugby history, and the rivalry that has grown between our two teams since then is a testament to the quality, passion, and the respect that Ireland and New Zealand have for each other," said Potts.

The match also marks a significant transition with Andy Farrell expected to return as Ireland’s head coach following his stint with the British and Irish Lions. Currently, Simon Easterby holds the interim position, steering the team through the Six Nations and summer Test matches. Ireland has yet to finalize their autumn schedule, leaving fans eager for more details.

Adding to the anticipation, Soldier Field has been a fortunate ground for Ireland, evident from their 54-7 victory over Italy in 2018. The stadium, home to the NFL’s Chicago Bears, offers a unique blend of historical sports moments and modern athletic achievements, making it the perfect backdrop for this high-stakes rugby encounter.
