Saracens' Winning Mentality: A Family Bond That Drives Success - Insights from Rosie Galligan

Discover how Saracens' unique family-like mentality and Rosie Galligan's leadership are driving the team towards a historic fourth Premiership Women's Rugby title.

Saracens' Winning Mentality: A Family Bond That Drives Success

Saracens, a name synonymous with excellence in rugby, is once again on the brink of making history. The London-based club is aiming to secure a record-extending fourth Premiership Women's Rugby title, a testament to their relentless drive and unity. Rosie Galligan, the England lock, recently shared insights into what makes Saracens a formidable force in the league.

A Family, Not Just a Team

Galligan describes Saracens as more than just a team; it's a family. "If you're not part of it, you don't really know how special it is and how much you would go to war for each other," she told BBC Sport. This familial bond is a cornerstone of their success, fostering a deep sense of loyalty and commitment among the players.

Preparing for the Final

Saracens are set to face reigning champions Gloucester-Hartpury in the final at StoneX Stadium. Despite the home advantage for Gloucester-Hartpury, Saracens have meticulously prepared for the challenge. "Our away changing rooms are probably one of the nicest in the league, so we've been in there a few days this week just to familiarise ourselves," Galligan explained. The team has taken their home comforts into the changing room, ensuring they remain unfazed by the venue.

A Legacy of Excellence

Saracens have a rich history of record-breaking achievements, with some of the biggest names in women's rugby among their alumni. They are 12-time Premiership winners and three-time PWR champions, with their last title coming in 2022. Galligan, who briefly left the club for Harlequins, felt compelled to return to Saracens. "I wanted to be at the top and I wanted to win, and that's Saracens' mentality, of doing anything in your power to win and get the results," she said.

The Power of Unity

Galligan also highlighted the diverse and talented individuals within the team. "You've got lots of different characters and some that may be quite intimidating when you're up against them, but actually, when you've got them in your scrum or in your backline, you're like 'wow' this is a special feeling," she added. This unity and talent are what make Saracens a force to be reckoned with on the field.

As Saracens gear up for the final, their family-like mentality and unwavering determination are set to drive them towards yet another historic victory.
