Postecoglou Criticizes Lack of Attention on Refereeing Decisions Against Spurs

Ange Postecoglou expresses frustration over the lack of attention on refereeing decisions going against Tottenham Hotspur in their recent loss to Fulham.

Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, has voiced his concerns about the lack of attention given to refereeing decisions that have gone against his team. This follows Spurs' 2-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, where crucial decisions seemingly went unnoticed by the media and football pundits.

Refereeing Controversy

Postecoglou highlighted a contentious 85th-minute challenge by Fulham's Calvin Bassey on Lucas Bergvall inside the penalty area. He stated: "I'll leave that to the officials, but I will say that we don't carry on like a lot of other clubs and I think that hurts us for sure. I don't think there's ever any noise around us and decisions. We get one slightly in our favour and there's national headlines for a week."

Player Performance Issues

The Spurs manager also addressed the performance issues of some of his players. Yves Bissouma was substituted at half-time due to his poor showing. Postecoglou explained: "I just feel Biss can sometimes let the game drift by him. He needs to be a little bit more dominant in the way he gets on the ball. At times, I think the game gets away from him, and today we needed more in that position."

Season Struggles

With Spurs languishing in 13th place and just 10 points from their last 10 games, Postecoglou emphasized the need for the team to improve their performance for the remaining matches. He said: "We can't let this league season go the way it has. We have lost way too many games. Unacceptable."

Focus on Europa League

Despite their domestic struggles, Spurs still have a chance to qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League. They secured a spot in the quarter-finals after defeating AZ Alkmaar. Postecoglou, however, reiterated the importance of not neglecting the Premier League: "I said to the players I'm not going to allow anyone to think about Europa and nothing else."
