Mark Allen's Quest for the World Snooker Championship

Northern Ireland's snooker star, Mark Allen, is on the verge of making history. With two Triple Crown titles already under his belt—the Masters and the UK Championship—Allen is now setting his sights on the ultimate prize: the World Snooker Championship.

Steve Davis' Vote of Confidence

Six-time world champion Steve Davis is convinced that Allen has what it takes to claim the world title. "He's got all the credentials now," Davis remarked on the Connor Phillips Show on BBC Radio Ulster. "He's got the game, and he's got enough bottle. That's the one thing you can't really teach. He's got grit and he's got determination."

Crucible Memories

The 2025 World Championships, scheduled from 19th April to 5th May, hold special significance as they mark the 40th anniversary of the legendary 'black ball final' between Davis and Northern Ireland's Dennis Taylor. Allen, who has previously reached the semi-finals at the Crucible twice, is eager to etch his name alongside Taylor and Alex Higgins as world champions from Northern Ireland.

Rising Stock

Davis also highlighted Allen's growing reputation in the snooker world. "His stock has risen in that department," Davis noted. "He takes that on board and he is doing all the right things. He has given himself every chance."

A Humble Champion

Allen's self-effacing nature is another trait that Davis admires. "He's pretty self-effacing, I like the fact he doesn't get ahead of himself. He's a big character for the game."

As the countdown to the World Championships begins, all eyes will be on Mark Allen to see if he can finally break through and claim the title that has eluded him thus far.
