Mr Incredible Excluded from 2025 Grand National Over Form and Readiness Concerns

Scots-trained Mr Incredible barred from the 2025 Grand National due to inconsistent recent form and safety concerns, sparking owner and trainer frustration.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has excluded Mr Incredible from Saturday's Randox Grand National at Aintree following a stringent review process. The Scottish-trained nine-year-old, owned by former Olympian James Manclark, failed to meet the National Fence Review Panel's criteria after a series of incomplete races.

Key Decision Factors

  • Recent Form: Failed to finish in 3 of last 4 races, including a refusal to run at Kelso in March 2024
  • Safety Assessment: Stewards flagged "unruly" behavior during Kelso race, where he pulled up after the 14th fence
  • Panel Protocol: BHA's expert panel (including ex-jockeys/vets) evaluates all horses’ fitness and suitability

Trainer’s Reaction

Sandy Thomson expressed dismay:

"James [Manclark] is devastated after three years working toward this. The horse has shown progress in training with natural horsemanship techniques."

The decision mirrors 2024’s withdrawals, where six horses were similarly excluded. Mr Incredible had previously placed 2nd in the 2023 Midlands Grand National under Willie Mullins but unseated riders in two consecutive Aintree attempts.
