Mykolas Alekna from Lithuania smashes the discus world record.

Mykolas Alekna has made history in the world of athletics. The 22-year-old athlete not only broke his own previous world record but also set a new benchmark that exceeds the 75-metre mark. His first attempt was 74.89m and then improved to an astonishing 75.56m in round four. Alekna's achievements are remarkable, having won Olympic silver at Paris 2024 and outperforming other top competitors.
Australia's Matt Denny finished second with a throw of 74.78m. Alekna narrowly missed out on gold at the Olympics by three centimetres to Jamaica's Roje Stona.
