Eubank Jr. Slams Benn's Tactics in Weight Cut Controversy Ahead of High-Stakes Bout
Chris Eubank Jr. accuses Conor Benn of sabotaging his weight cut, leading to a hefty fine and escalating tensions before their anticipated fight.

Chris Eubank Jr. has openly accused Conor Benn and his team of intentionally disrupting his weight cut process, which resulted in a significant fine of £375,000. The incident occurred when Eubank was found to be 0.05lb over the middleweight limit during the official weigh-in, a critical step before their much-anticipated boxing match.
Eubank expressed his frustration, stating, "It stings that I was 0.05lbs away from the limit and now I'll have to pay half a million to someone. These are the people you are dealing with. They closed the scales off early." He further elaborated on the psychological warfare, mentioning that he was denied the opportunity to urinate before the weigh-in, a tactic he believes was used to unsettle him.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) enforced strict regulations during the weigh-in, which was also attended by representatives from Matchroom, Boxxer, and Benn's trainer Tony Simms. Eubank's grievances highlight the intense preparations and mental battles that boxers endure before stepping into the ring.
As the fight night approaches, both fighters face the challenge of adhering to the rehydration clause, which restricts them from gaining more than 10lbs from the 11st 6lb limit. Benn, who weighed in at 11st 2lb, appears to have no issues with the clause, whereas Eubank remains uncertain about his strategy to meet the weight requirements.
This bout not only reignites the historic rivalry between their families but also sets the stage for a dramatic confrontation in the boxing world. Eubank remains focused on the ultimate goal, stating, "All that matters for me is who performs on the night, who puts in on the line and who represents their family name to the best of their ability."
