British cyclist Samuel Watson won the opening time trial of Tour of Romandie.

Samuel Watson of Ineos Grenadiers emerged victorious in Tuesday's opening time trial prologue at the Tour of Romandie. The 23-year-old, who received a late call-up to the race, edged out UAE Team Emirates' Portuguese rider Ivo Oliveira by milliseconds to claim the leader's yellow jersey for the first time in his career. Watson expressed surprise and delight at his win, stating that he only felt 'pain' in the gruelling finish. The first stage begins on Wednesday, featuring a 194.4km route with four categorised climbs.
