Scottie Scheffler delivered a masterclass at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas, securing his first victory of 2025 in emphatic fashion. The American world number one, aged 28, showcased his exceptional skills by finishing eight shots ahead of his nearest competitor, Erik van Rooyen. Scheffler's final round score of eight-under-par 63 culminated in a total of 31 under par, equalling the lowest 72-hole score in PGA Tour history with a remarkable 253 strokes over the four days.
This victory marks Scheffler's 14th PGA Tour title, further cementing his status as one of the sport's elite players. Competing in front of his hometown crowd, Scheffler expressed his gratitude and joy: "I was inspired and very fortunate to be in that position. I played some good golf and kept myself in a good position all week."
As Scheffler concluded his round at the 18th green, he was warmly greeted by his wife Meredith and their baby son Bennett, adding a personal touch to his professional triumph.
Erik van Rooyen also impressed with a final round score of 63, finishing at 23 under par. Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth's 62 tied his personal best on the PGA Tour, propelling him to fourth place at 19 under par.
