Owen Steps in for Injured Maxwell at Punjab Kings: A Cricket Update
Punjab Kings sign Mitchell Owen to replace injured Glenn Maxwell in IPL.

Punjab Kings have made a crucial move by signing Australian Mitchell Owen as a replacement for the injured Glenn Maxwell in the Indian Premier League. Owen, 23, is currently engaged with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. The uncertainty lies in whether he will depart promptly or join the Kings upon the conclusion of that tournament. Peshawar's final group-stage game is on 9 May, and if they reach the play-offs until 17 May, Owen might join the Kings for the IPL knockouts starting on 20 May. Owen's prominence has soared recently, especially after hitting a 39-ball century when Hobart Hurricanes won the Big Bash final in January. He also played in the SA20 and has averaged 16.83 in six PSL innings, along with claiming two wickets. Maxwell, on the other hand, has been sidelined due to a fractured finger, struggling with form in his six innings.
