Munster's stalwart forward, Dave Kilcoyne, has officially announced his retirement from professional rugby at the end of the current season. The 36-year-old, who has earned 56 caps for Ireland, played a pivotal role in securing the Six Nations Grand Slam in 2023.
Kilcoyne's career is marked by significant achievements, including being one of only 15 players to make over 200 appearances for Munster. Despite recent struggles with injuries, including surgeries on his shoulder and Achilles, Kilcoyne's dedication to the sport has never wavered.
Reflecting on his career, Kilcoyne shared, "Growing up in Limerick, my dream was always to play for Munster and Ireland. To have done so for so long has been a dream come true." He added, "The last two years haven't gone as planned, but I take great pride in knowing that I always gave everything I had and left nothing on the pitch."
Kilcoyne's illustrious career also includes representing Ireland at the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups and winning the United Rugby Championship with Munster in 2023. His final match for Munster was against Ulster in December 2024, marking the end of an era for the celebrated forward.
