Craig Levein, the former Scotland manager, has made a triumphant return to his podcast Sacked in the Morning after undergoing triple heart bypass surgery. The podcast, which delves into the world of football management and the highs and lows of being sacked, is back for its eighth series.

Levein’s health journey began with a heart attack in 2018, followed by the fitting of stents. However, his condition worsened, leading to a trip to Accident & Emergency in Kirkcaldy. "I was struggling to walk and breathe, especially on hills," Levein shared with co-host Amy Irons. After declining the option of additional stents, he opted for the triple bypass, a decision he now considers a success. "I’m feeling really good," he added.

The 60-year-old, who has managed teams like St Johnstone, Hearts, Leicester City, and Dundee United, started his podcasting career in October 2021. The new series promises to feature a lineup of notable guests, including Dean Saunders, Viv Anderson, Andy Cole, Alistair Campbell, and Si Ferry.

Levein also opened up about the delirium he experienced post-surgery, describing vivid hallucinations, including a nativity play and a devil in the ward. "I had no idea what was going on," he recalled. Now, with his health on the mend, listeners can expect more stories of football’s most dramatic moments, from real fisticuffs to the emotional toll of being sacked.
