Exeter Chiefs Bolster Squad with Canadian Star Maddy Grant for 2025-26 PWR Season

Exeter Chiefs secure Canadian international Maddy Grant from Harlequins for the 2025-26 Premiership Women's Rugby season, enhancing their squad with her versatile skills.

Exeter Chiefs have made a significant addition to their roster by signing Maddy Grant, the versatile Canada international, from Harlequins for the 2025-26 Premiership Women's Rugby (PWR) season. This move marks a strategic enhancement to their squad as they prepare for the upcoming challenges in the league.

Maddy Grant, aged 24, brings a wealth of experience to Exeter, having earned 23 caps for Canada and participated in the 2021 Rugby World Cup, where she played in the semi-final against England. Her ability to play both in the backs and forwards makes her a valuable asset to the team.

Grant's signing follows the acquisition of other international stars, including New Zealand prop Amy Rule and Italy winger Francesca Granzotto, as Exeter continues to strengthen their squad post the recent World Cup.

Interim Head Coach Steve Salvin expressed his enthusiasm about Grant's versatility, stating, "We see Maddy fitting into our backs line-up, most likely at full-back, but it is a bonus that she can slip into the back row too. This is an international player with bags of experience who is looking to further her career in the PWR."

Grant, who transitioned to flanker after joining Harlequins in December as injury cover for compatriot Sara Svoboda, has primarily played as a winger for Canada. She shared her excitement about the move, saying, "I am looking forward to the expansive and free style of play that will allow me to develop as a player in multiple respects. My hope for this season is to help contribute to a successful 25-26 year. There's so much depth and talent in this squad, I'm very excited to be a part of it."

This strategic signing underscores Exeter Chiefs' commitment to building a competitive and dynamic team for the 2025-26 PWR season, aiming to leverage Grant's international experience and versatile playing style to achieve their goals.
