England Lionesses Support Families Amid High Costs for Euro 2025 in Switzerland
England's Lionesses are helping their families cover the high costs of attending Euro 2025 in Switzerland, with players contributing financially to ensure their loved ones can support them.

Midfielder Georgia Stanway revealed that England players are stepping up to help their families manage the expenses of following the team at the upcoming Euro 2025 in Switzerland. Known for its high cost of living, Switzerland poses a significant financial challenge for fans and families alike.
Zurich, Lausanne, and Geneva are among the world's most expensive cities, with Switzerland ranking second on the 2025 Cost of Living Index. To alleviate this burden, the Football Association (FA) is providing financial support to all 23 players in Sarina Wiegman's squad to cover travel and accommodation costs for their families. While the exact amount remains undisclosed, it is comparable to the assistance given during the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, and aligns with the support offered to England's men's team.
Players are also allocated a limited number of match tickets, making it easier for families and friends to attend. However, the steep costs in Switzerland have prompted players to contribute additional funds from their own pockets. "I'm aware that Switzerland is a very expensive country," said Stanway, who joined Bayern Munich from Manchester City in 2022. "Even just for flights and hotels, the cost of living there is extremely high. We understand the demand on fans and want to support as much as possible, even with our own families."
The 26-year-old added, "A lot of us are putting our hands in our pockets to make sure that our families can get over there. We would love to see as many fans as possible and we want to thank them in advance because we know it's not cheap."
This initiative highlights the Lionesses' commitment to their supporters and their determination to make Euro 2025 an inclusive and memorable event for everyone involved.
