Australia's Head and Webster Steady the Ship Against West Indies in Thrilling Test Match

In a gripping Test match in Bridgetown, Australia's Travis Head and Beau Webster held firm against West Indies, securing an 82-run lead with six wickets in hand.

Australia managed to carve out an 82-run lead with six wickets remaining in their second innings after a riveting day two of the first Test against West Indies in Bridgetown. The tourists, who had only managed 180 runs on Wednesday, initially trailed by 10 runs after West Indies posted 190 in their first innings.

Australia faced early setbacks in their second innings, stumbling to 65-4 before Travis Head and Beau Webster steadied the innings. Head remained not out at 13 off 37 balls, while Webster scored a brisk 19 off 24 deliveries. Their partnership was crucial in navigating through eight challenging overs, bringing Australia to 92-4 by stumps.

Earlier in the day, West Indies resumed their first innings at 57-4 and quickly lost Brandon King, bowled by Josh Hazlewood for 26. Wicketkeeper Shai Hope and captain Roston Chase then added 67 runs before Chase was controversially given out lbw to Pat Cummins for 44. Despite some resistance, West Indies were bowled out, with Hope top-scoring at 48.

Mitchell Starc, who took 3-65 in West Indies' first innings, commented on the match's trajectory, noting the bowlers' consistent impact and anticipating further developments in the pitch conditions. Starc also addressed the controversial dismissal of Chase, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the match and Australia's focus on building a defendable total.

As the match progresses, all eyes will be on Head and Webster to extend Australia's lead and set a challenging target for West Indies.
