Nottingham Forest Secures Rising Brazilian Star Jair Cunha from Botafogo
Nottingham Forest has signed Brazilian defender Jair Cunha from Botafogo, bolstering their defense with a young talent ready for the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest has officially announced the signing of Jair Cunha, a promising Brazilian defender from Botafogo. The 20-year-old has inked a five-year contract with the club, keeping him at the City Ground until at least the summer of 2030.
Cunha, who joined Botafogo in February, has already made a mark by playing in the Club World Cup, where he scored in a 2-1 victory against Seattle Sounders. His performance has been nothing short of impressive, showcasing his potential on an international stage.
This acquisition marks Forest's second signing from Botafogo within a week, following the arrival of Brazilian striker Igor Jesus for a reported £10 million. Forest's chief football officer, Ross Wilson, expressed his excitement about the new addition: "Jair is a young talent who has shown quality during his time in Brazil, and we are happy to have secured his signature. He has flourished in Brazil and now has new ambitions as he moves to the Premier League. We know he will be warmly welcomed into the group here in Nottingham."
Cunha began his career at Santos, where he made 24 appearances before moving to Botafogo. He has also represented Brazil at the under-20 level, earning eight caps and helping his nation win the U20 South America Championship earlier this year.
The arrival of Cunha comes at a pivotal time for Forest, as they consider potential exits for Anthony Elanga and Morgan Gibbs-White. Newcastle United has agreed to a £55 million deal for Sweden winger Elanga, while Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly keen on signing England midfielder Gibbs-White for £60 million.
With these strategic moves, Nottingham Forest is clearly aiming to strengthen their squad and make a significant impact in the upcoming Premier League season.
