Ipswich Town Bolsters Squad with Key Signings of Matusiwa and Kipre
Ipswich Town strengthens their squad with the signings of Azor Matusiwa and Cedric Kipre, aiming for a strong Championship season.

Ipswich Town have made significant moves in the transfer market by securing the services of Azor Matusiwa from Rennes and Cedric Kipre from Reims. These acquisitions are expected to bolster the team's midfield and defense as they prepare for the upcoming Championship season.
Azor Matusiwa: A Midfield Maestro
Azor Matusiwa, a 27-year-old Dutch midfielder, has signed a four-year deal with Ipswich Town. Last season, Matusiwa made 29 appearances in Ligue 1 for Rennes, scoring one goal. His journey began in the renowned Ajax youth system, followed by stints at De Graafschap and Groningen. Matusiwa joined Reims in 2021 and moved to Rennes in the January transfer window of last year. His experience in top-tier European competitions, including the Europa League, adds valuable depth to Ipswich's midfield.
Cedric Kipre: Defensive Reinforcement
Cedric Kipre, a 28-year-old Ivory Coast international, joins Ipswich on a season-long loan from Reims. Kipre brings a wealth of experience from English football, having played for Wigan, West Bromwich Albion, and Cardiff City. Last season, he made 28 appearances for Reims after transferring from West Brom. The loan agreement includes an option to buy, providing Ipswich with flexibility in securing his services permanently.
Manager's Vision and Player Commitment
Kipre expressed his enthusiasm about joining Ipswich, stating, "I spoke with the manager and I really liked what he said about the way he wants to work. He wants to work hard – I also want to work hard." This alignment of values between the player and the management underscores the club's commitment to a disciplined and ambitious approach in the Championship.
Looking Ahead: The Championship Campaign
Following their relegation from the Premier League, Ipswich Town, affectionately known as the Tractor Boys, are determined to make a strong comeback. They kick off their Championship campaign with an away game against Birmingham City on Friday, 8 August. The new signings are expected to play pivotal roles in their quest for promotion back to the Premier League.
