Ace Achievements: McIlroy and Lowry Shine at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry both scored holes-in-one at the prestigious Pebble Beach Pro-Am, thrilling fans and players alike.

In an electrifying opening round of the 2025 Pebble Beach Pro-Am, golf fans were treated to the rare spectacle of two players making holes-in-one in a single day. Rory McIlroy, ranked third in the world, nailed his ace on the stunning par-three 15th hole at Spyglass Hill. McIlroy described the experience:

"It's such an elevated tee that the ball's in the air and you know it's online but you don't know whether to say 'go!' or 'sit!' or 'spin' or 'release'. You're looking at it and you're watching where it might land on the green and the thing just disappears. It was a good swing, a good wedge shot and it was obviously a nice little moment."

This hole-in-one marked the second of McIlroy's illustrious PGA Tour career, with his previous ace coming at the Travelers Championship in 2023. The Northern Irishman, with an impressive score of six-under-par 66, finished the round tied for eighth, just two shots behind leader Russell Henley.

Later that same day, Shane Lowry, the 2019 Open champion and fellow Ryder Cup veteran, mirrored McIlroy's success with a hole-in-one of his own at the iconic seventh hole of Pebble Beach. Lowry's shot rolled into the hole, prompting a joyous leap of disbelief from him.

"What a moment! I've had a few aces in my time, but every one feels incredible. It was a magical feeling to see it go straight in," Lowry reflected, noting this was his third hole-in-one on the PGA Tour, with previous ones at The Masters (2016) and The Players Championship (2022).

As the tournament progresses, Henley leads the field into the second round, with notable competitors like Justin Rose hot on his heels. Meanwhile, world number one Scottie Scheffler, returning after a two-month recovery from a hand injury, is three shots off the lead following a solid five-under 67.

Stay tuned as the drama unfolds at the breathtaking Pebble Beach, where the world’s best golfers continue to showcase their exceptional talents in one of the sport's most revered events!
