Historic Showdown: Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano Trilogy to Headline All-Women's Boxing Card

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will face off for the third time in a historic all-women's boxing card at Madison Square Garden, streamed live on Netflix.

After two electrifying and record-breaking bouts, Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano are set to clash once again on July 11 at Madison Square Garden in New York. This third encounter will headline a groundbreaking all-women's boxing card, promoted by Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and streamed live on Netflix.

A Trilogy for the Ages

Their first meeting on April 30, 2022, marked a historic moment as the first women to headline a fight card at Madison Square Garden. Taylor emerged victorious in a split decision that left fans craving more. The rematch, held on November 15, 2024, saw Taylor defend her undisputed super lightweight titles with a controversial unanimous decision. This fight, streamed on Netflix, shattered records with 74 million average viewers globally, making it the most-watched women's sporting event in U.S. history.

The Stakes Are Higher

Taylor, 38, hailing from Ireland, is ranked No. 2 on ESPN's pound-for-pound list and has been undisputed in two weight classes. Serrano, 36, from Puerto Rico, holds the Guinness World Record for the most boxing world championships won in different weight classes by a female, with nine major world titles across seven weight classes.

The Fighters Speak

Katie Taylor expressed her excitement: "I'm 2-0 against Amanda, but it's a special rivalry that delivers every time we step in the ring. The atmosphere for the first fight was amazing, and I'm sure it won't be any different this time."

Amanda Serrano shared her gratitude: "I promised my fans they would see this trilogy, and I'm incredibly grateful that we get to complete our journey where it all began—at Madison Square Garden, live on Netflix for the world to see."

Controversy Over Round Format

Serrano has pushed for 12 three-minute rounds, equal to men's championship fights, but the two fighters couldn't reach an agreement. "I'm disappointed that Katie Taylor did not keep her word and make the trilogy 12 three-minute rounds," Serrano stated. "But make no mistake, every time we share the ring, it is war."

A Historic Event

This event not only highlights the incredible talent of Taylor and Serrano but also signifies a monumental step forward for women's boxing. As Joel Fisher, executive vice president of MSG Entertainment, noted, "Madison Square Garden has been home to the biggest boxing matches in history, and we are proud to welcome these extraordinary athletes back for another historic moment."

Mark your calendars for July 11 as these two legends step into the ring once more, promising another unforgettable chapter in their storied rivalry.
