Jake Lintott’s Red-Ball Cricket Aspirations and Warwickshire’s 2025 Season Outlook

Jake Lintott aims to revive his red-ball cricket career as Warwickshire prepares for a transformative 2025 season with new signings and coaching changes.

Warwickshire’s Jake Lintott, a left-arm wrist spinner with a unique cricketing journey, is determined to make his mark in red-ball cricket. Despite a successful T20 career, Lintott has expressed a 'burning desire' to play more County Championship matches, a format he has only appeared in three times since his debut in 2021.

Lintott’s Journey and Ambitions

Lintott, who transitioned from teaching to professional cricket, has made 93 T20 and Hundred appearances but seeks to expand his role in the longer format. “You don’t see many wrist spinners playing four-day cricket,” he told BBC Sport. “I haven’t had the opportunities I’d have liked, but I’ve worked hard this winter on both batting and bowling to change that.”

Off-Season Developments

This winter, Lintott has also ventured into coaching, mentoring fellow left-arm wrist spinner Millie Taylor as part of Warwickshire’s new women’s team. Reflecting on his coaching experience, Lintott said, “It’s rewarding to see someone grow and succeed, knowing you’ve played a part in their development.”

Warwickshire’s 2025 Rebuild

Lintott’s ambitions align with Warwickshire’s broader goals for the 2025 season. After a disappointing 2024 campaign, the Bears are undergoing significant changes, including the appointment of new head coach Ian Westwood and the arrival of overseas signings like New Zealand’s Tom Latham and Sri Lanka’s Vishwa Fernando.

Key Signings and Departures

Warwickshire has also bolstered their squad with young talent, such as Middlesex paceman Ethan Bamber, while bidding farewell to longtime players like Will Rhodes and Michael Burgess. These changes aim to inject fresh energy into the team as they seek to improve their standing in the County Championship.

Looking Ahead

With the new season set to begin on April 4 against Sussex, Lintott and Warwickshire are focused on turning their ambitions into results. As Lintott puts it, “I’ve got something to prove, and I’m ready to make an impact.”
