Thomas Frank Criticizes 'Ridiculous' Club World Cup Ahead of Its New Format

Brentford's head coach Thomas Frank deems the Club World Cup 'ridiculous' before its new format this summer.

The revamped Club World Cup The new expanded Fifa Club World Cup will take place in the United States from 15 June to 13 July 2025. Previously a seven-team annual tournament, it will now feature 32 teams and occur once every four years.

Format and Prize The 32 teams will be divided into eight groups of four. The top two from each group advance to the knockout stages. The final is on 13 July 2025, with a top prize of £97m from a £775m total prize pool.

Frank's View Thomas Frank, the Brentford head coach, strongly criticized the tournament, stating that it adds to fixture congestion and is unwanted.
