Coco Gauff beats Iga Swiatek 6-1 6-1 to reach Madrid Open final.
Coco Gauff, 21, produced an outstanding performance to thrash four-time French Open champion Iga Swiatek 6-1 6-1 and advance to the final of the Madrid Open. Gauff had never defeated her Polish opponent on clay before but dominated in just 64 minutes. The American, who won the US Open in 2023, hit seven aces and was highly effective on her first serve. Gauff said she was aggressive and felt great on the court. Reigning champion Swiatek, who had a strong record in Madrid, had no answer to Gauff's play.
