Aaron Rodgers Extends NFL Legacy with Pittsburgh Steelers Deal
Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers signs a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, extending his illustrious NFL career.

Aaron Rodgers, the four-time NFL MVP, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, marking a new chapter in his storied career. At 41, Rodgers, who spent 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and the last two with the New York Jets, will now lead the Steelers as their starting quarterback for the 2025 season, pending a medical examination.
Rodgers, a free agent for the first time in his 20-year career, had been contemplating his future options. His tenure with the Jets ended on a disappointing note, with his second season marred by a torn Achilles tendon injury suffered during his debut. Despite receiving an offer from the New York Giants and discussions with the Minnesota Vikings, Rodgers ultimately chose the Steelers, who had parted ways with their previous starters, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.
Rodgers' decision to join the Steelers is a significant boost for the team, which has not won a playoff game since 2017. Under the leadership of head coach Mike Tomlin, who has been with the Steelers since 2007 and led them to a Super Bowl victory in 2009, the team is looking to Rodgers to bring his wealth of experience and expertise to revitalize their offense.
With a career that includes 248 regular-season games, 241 starts, and 503 touchdowns, Rodgers ranks in the top-10 in every major passing category. He is the only quarterback in NFL history with at least 55,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards. His leadership and skill set are expected to be pivotal as the Steelers aim to make a deep playoff run in the upcoming season.
The Steelers began their off-season program with organized team activities on 27 May, and Rodgers is expected to join them for mandatory minicamp on 10 June. This move not only extends Rodgers' legacy but also positions the Steelers as a formidable contender in the NFL landscape.
