Minjee Lee Dominates Women's PGA Championship as Thitikul Struggles

Minjee Lee leads the Women's PGA Championship by four shots as Jeeno Thitikul falters in challenging conditions at Fields Ranch East.

Minjee Lee Takes Commanding Lead

Australian golfer Minjee Lee has surged ahead at the Women's PGA Championship, opening up a four-shot lead after a stellar third-round performance. Lee carded a bogey-free 69, including three birdies, to move to six under par. Her consistent play in the windy conditions at Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas, has set her apart from the competition.

Thitikul's Struggles

Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand, who led after the first two days, faltered with a four-over 76. Despite two birdies, Thitikul's round was marred by six bogeys, leaving her at two under par. The young golfer, seeking her first major victory, will need a strong final round to challenge Lee.

Other Notable Performances

England's Charley Hull shot the lowest score of the second round with a 69 but followed up with a 73, leaving her at four over par. American Lexi Thompson, who started her round with a triple bogey and a bogey, managed to stay positive and finished at one over par. World number one Nelly Korda and Ireland's Leona Maguire are both at two over par after rounds of 72.

Lee's Experience Shines Through

Lee, a two-time major winner, emphasized the importance of patience and experience in these challenging conditions. "I just try to stay patient out there," Lee said. "You can't get ahead of yourself, especially in these conditions. It's only getting harder and harder just with the pressure of a major championship, and also the course just demands so much from you."

Looking Ahead to the Final Round

With only five rounds in the 60s at this year's tournament, Lee has already carded two of them. Her previous major victories at the 2021 Evian Championship and the 2022 US Women's Open give her the confidence and experience needed to close out the tournament. As the final round approaches, all eyes will be on Lee to see if she can maintain her lead and secure another major title.
