Ewa Pajor: From Polish Farm to Football Stardom - The Journey of the World's Most Prolific Striker
Discover the inspiring journey of Ewa Pajor, from a small Polish town to becoming the world's most prolific striker, leading Poland to their first major women's tournament.

Early Beginnings
Ewa Pajor grew up on a farm in Uniejow, a small spa town in central Poland. From a young age, she displayed an extraordinary talent for football, often outscoring her brothers and local boys in matches. Her journey began with local team Orleta Wielenin, where she was the only girl playing. Recognizing her potential, her primary school PE teacher took her to tournaments in Konin, as her parents were tied up with farm work.
Rising Through the Ranks
Pajor soon joined the youth system of women's club Medyk Konin, where she met Nina Patalon, now Poland's head coach. Patalon recalls the first time she saw Pajor play: "She was a Galactico." At just 15 years and 133 days, Pajor made her senior debut for Medyk, becoming the youngest player in Poland's top flight and scoring twice in her first game.
Overcoming Challenges
In 2015, Pajor moved to German giants Wolfsburg, a significant step up in her career. However, her journey was not without obstacles. In 2017, she was diagnosed with keratoconus, a degenerative eye disease that threatened her career. After two surgeries and adaptive contact lenses, she continued to excel, scoring 24 goals in 19 games during the 2018-19 season.
Record-Breaking at Barcelona
Last summer, Pajor joined Barcelona, where she enjoyed the best debut season in the club's history, scoring 43 goals in 46 games. She broke Jenni Hermoso's record for the most goals in a debut season and became the top-scoring player in the world in 2025 with 29 goals.
Leading Poland to Euro 2025
Pajor's achievements with the national team are equally remarkable. She scored the decisive goal in Poland's Euro 2025 qualification play-off against Austria, securing their place in a major tournament for the first time. "It was one of the most emotional moments of my life," Pajor said.
A Legacy in the Making
As Poland's all-time leading goal scorer with 68 goals in 101 appearances, Pajor is not just a player but a symbol of hope and inspiration. "I'm motivated by the chance to show that we belong on this stage. That Poland can dream big," she concluded.
