Lottie Woad Triumphs at Women's Scottish Open in Spectacular Professional Debut

Lottie Woad, at just 21, secures a stunning victory at the Women's Scottish Open on her professional debut, showcasing her talent and determination.

England's Lottie Woad made an unforgettable professional debut at the Women's Scottish Open, clinching the title with a final-round 68 to finish at 21 under par. This victory marks her second tour win, a remarkable achievement for the young golfer.

Final Round Highlights

Woad entered the final round with a two-shot lead over South Korea's Sei Young Kim. Demonstrating composure and skill, she maintained her lead despite the pressure from the chasing pack. Her round included five birdies and just one bogey, her third in 72 holes at Dundonald Links.

Key Moments

Midway through the back nine, seven-time LPGA winner Hyo Joo Kim matched Woad at 20 under. However, Kim's successive bogeys at the 15th and 16th holes allowed Woad to extend her lead. Woad sealed her victory with a birdie on the par-five 18th, finishing three strokes ahead of Kim.

Woad's Reaction

"It's a pretty good outcome," Woad remarked modestly. "I definitely wasn't expecting to win but knew I was playing well and just hoping to contend. Links golf is really fun, and it went fine. My dad was here all week, and my mum got the train up last night, so I was hoping I wouldn't mess it up."

Background and Future

Woad, who previously won the Irish Open as an amateur, turned professional last week. She narrowly missed out on £400,000 prize money at the Evian Championship, finishing just a shot outside the play-off. Her victory at the Women's Scottish Open earned her £220,000. Woad now heads to Royal Porthcawl for the Women's Open as one of the favorites.

"Even if I hadn't won this week, I would still be trying to win the Open next week," Woad added. "It's still a learning curve getting used to the attention."
