Crystal Palace Faces Fredrikstad or Midtjylland in Europa Conference League Amid Appeal
Crystal Palace drawn against Fredrikstad or Midtjylland in Europa Conference League play-offs while awaiting UEFA appeal decision.

Crystal Palace has been drawn against either Norwegian side Fredrikstad or Denmark's Midtjylland in the Europa Conference League play-off round. This comes despite an ongoing appeal regarding their demotion from the Europa League.
Background on the Demotion Palace was demoted by UEFA due to a breach of multi-club ownership rules. Until recently, American businessman John Textor held a stake in Palace while also being the majority owner of French club Lyon, which has qualified for the Europa League. UEFA's rules prohibit clubs owned by the same entity from competing in the same European competition.
Appeal Process Palace has appealed the demotion with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), with a hearing scheduled for August 8. A decision is expected by August 11. The appeal is against UEFA, Lyon, and Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest, who may replace Palace in the Europa League if the demotion stands.
Upcoming Matches Palace is set to play the first leg of their tie at Selhurst Park on August 21, with the second leg a week later on August 28. The winners of these play-off ties will advance to the League phase of the competition.
