England's Test captain, Ben Stokes, has officially joined the Northern Superchargers as a mentor for The Hundred 2025. Stokes, who previously played five games for the Superchargers during the 2021 and 2024 tournaments, will now be part of the men's team for the entirety of this year's competition.
Initially, it was announced in February that Stokes would miss the 100-ball competition this summer to focus on his fitness ahead of the Ashes in Australia. This decision came after he sustained a shoulder injury that ruled him out of the fifth Test between England and India, making him unfit to play regardless.
Despite not being on the field, the 34-year-old all-rounder aims to make a significant impact by sharing his expertise. Stokes will be joining head coach Andrew Flintoff's backroom staff, where his insights and experience are expected to be invaluable.
Stokes' role as a mentor is seen as a strategic move by the Superchargers to leverage his deep understanding of the game and his leadership qualities. His presence is anticipated to boost the team's morale and performance throughout the tournament.
