Clash of Titans: Raducanu and Draper Battle in US Open Mixed Doubles

Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper face off in the US Open mixed doubles, featuring top players and a new tournament format.

The US Open mixed doubles tournament is set to ignite the courts at Flushing Meadows with a thrilling lineup of matches. British tennis stars Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper are poised to face each other in a highly anticipated showdown. Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, teams up with five-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz, while Draper partners with American Jessica Pegula after their original partners withdrew.

This year's tournament introduces a new format, with matches condensed into two days of intense competition. The 16 pairs will compete for a grand prize of $1 million, with the first two rounds taking place on Tuesday and the semi-finals and final on Wednesday. The format includes no-advantage scoring and 10-point match tie-breaks, ensuring fast-paced and exciting gameplay.

Raducanu and Alcaraz have been granted a wildcard entry, adding to the anticipation of their performance. Meanwhile, Draper and Pegula, both ranked within the top five in singles, have been given the top seeding, making them the team to beat.

Before the mixed doubles event, Alcaraz is set to face world number one Jannik Sinner in the final of the Cincinnati Open, adding to the drama of the tennis season. Sinner, also a wildcard entrant, will partner with Czech Katerina Siniakova after his original partner withdrew.

The US Open mixed doubles draw features several high-profile matches, including:

  • Jack Draper/Jessica Pegula vs. Carlos Alcaraz/Emma Raducanu
  • Olga Danilovic/Novak Djokovic vs. Mirra Andreeva/Daniil Medvedev
  • Casper Ruud/Iga Swiatek vs. Madison Keys/Frances Tiafoe

This tournament promises to be a showcase of talent and strategy, with fans eagerly awaiting the outcomes of these exciting matchups.
