Scheffler Unfazed by Hand Injury Ahead of 2025 Season

World number one Scottie Scheffler speaks out about his recovery from a minor injury as he prepares for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

In a bold statement ahead of the 2025 golf season, Scottie Scheffler, the reigning world number one, has dismissed concerns regarding a minor hand injury he sustained over the holidays. The injury, which he described as a "stupid" mishap with a broken wine glass, required surgery but has not dampened his spirits or confidence as he returns to competitive play this week.

A Season of Triumph

2024 was nothing short of spectacular for the 28-year-old American, who clinched notable victories including the Masters, the Players Championship, and brought home Olympic gold from Paris. As Scheffler gears up for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he embraces the challenge, stating,

"Not at all [concerned about the injury]. It's a part of life, and we all make mistakes."

Reflections on the Injury

Scheffler shared candid reflections on the incident, admitting his frustration at himself after the cut on his palm left him sidelined for two events.

"Immediately after it happened, I was mad at myself because I was like 'gosh, that's so stupid,' but you just don’t think about it when you’re in the moment," he shared.

Despite some initial pain and mobility issues, Scheffler quickly regained control over his recovery and is poised to make a strong comeback.

Looking Forward

While missing a few key tournaments wasn’t ideal for Scheffler, he clarified that he is not planning to alter his schedule to make up for the lost events.

"Just because I missed two, I don’t want to change the flow and cadence to my schedule. If I feel like I want to add one later for extra practice, I might, but I’m comfortable with where I’m at," he explained.

At last year’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he finished joint-sixth, and now he looks forward to competing alongside amateur David Abeles, teeing off at 17:01 (GMT) this Thursday at Spyglass Hill. As he steps back into the arena, all eyes will be on Scheffler to see if he can maintain his winning momentum in the new year.
