Petra Kvitova's Inspirational Comeback: A Mother's Return to the Court

After 15 months of maternity leave, Petra Kvitova is set to make her much-anticipated return to professional tennis.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is joyously preparing to re-enter the competitive world of tennis following the birth of her son. The Czech star, who has been a formidable force on the WTA circuit, took a well-deserved break for 15 months, with her last tournament appearance being at the China Open in October 2023.

Kvitova welcomed her baby boy, Petr, in July 2024, embracing the joys of motherhood. However, the competitive spirit that has defined her career cannot be dimmed. In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, the 34-year-old expressed her eagerness to return to the court:

"After 15 months being away from tennis and having my baby boy Petr, I'm coming back to the tennis circuit. I really miss tennis and I miss competing, so I am really looking forward to being back. I can't wait."

Her comeback is scheduled for the ATX Open in Austin, Texas, kicking off on February 24, 2025. Kvitova's career has been nothing short of remarkable, boasting 31 WTA singles titles and clinching her most recent victories in Miami and Berlin in 2023.
