Milan Mandaric's Bold Move: A Rescue Mission for Sheffield Wednesday

Former owner Milan Mandaric plans a bold rescue bid for Sheffield Wednesday to save the club from financial ruin under current chairman Dejphon Chansiri.

Former Sheffield Wednesday owner Milan Mandaric is making headlines with his plan to rescue the financially troubled club from its current predicament. The 86-year-old Serbian-American, who previously owned the Owls from November 2010 to January 2015, is determined to save the club from what he describes as potential destruction under the leadership of current chairman Dejphon Chansiri.

Mandaric, who has a storied history in English football, including successful stints at Portsmouth and Leicester City, is set to fly into the UK next week to initiate talks with Chansiri. His goal is to assemble a viable takeover bid for the Championship side, which has recently been hit with spending restrictions by the EFL due to unpaid wages.

"It needs a big rescue now - all of us who love football and love Sheffield [Wednesday] have no doubt about that," Mandaric stated in a recent interview with BBC Radio Sheffield. He emphasized the urgency of the situation and his commitment to bringing in new leadership to stabilize the club.

Mandaric also revealed that he would be consulting with former Sheffield Wednesday executives Paul Aldridge and John Redgate, both of whom worked under him during his previous ownership. Their combined expertise could be crucial in navigating the complexities of the proposed takeover.

However, Mandaric acknowledged that Chansiri's high valuation of the club remains a significant hurdle. "He doesn't want to sell it because he is asking for a crazy price," Mandaric noted, expressing his frustration but also his determination to find a solution.

Despite the challenges, Mandaric remains optimistic about the future of Sheffield Wednesday. He believes that with the right leadership and support, the club can return to its former glory and provide the loyal fanbase with the success they deserve.
